Hi. My name is Susan Barmore, I live in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm a 6 in numerology and my sign is Scorpio. My business name is Frowning Francis Folk Art Patterns. I came by this name because of my pleasant disposition and the permanent frown lines I sport. Mom warned me what would happen if I kept frowning all the time, would I listen?
I am in the doll business because dolls are wonderful and strange. Somehow, with their fabric bodies and fiberfill hearts a magical process takes place that transforms them into beings that we actually love. That's the part I like to be in on.

printed fabric, the head hands and feet are made from tan cotton
fabric. The eyes and mouth are painted. The wings are quilted
muslin. The halo is wire. She is strung with a silver cord to hang
her up, and the cord is finished off with a white bead.

painted in a primitive style. These folk art type Witches have a
yarn hair, needle sculpted noses and abalone pieces around their

Mermaid with Catfish & Shell Chair Doll
Pattern to make a Mermaid seated on a shell chair holding a
catfish. Pattern for the mermaid, the catfish and the chair are
all included in the pattern. The mermaid is 8" seated, the tail 7"
long. The chair is 8" x 6". The catfish is 2" x 2". All of the
pieces are made of fabric and then painted. There is a wood oval
on the bottom of the chair to stabilize it. Medium sewing skill
level would be needed for this project.

SEA People Pattern
These dolls are made using woven cotton fabric, primed with gesso
and then painted with acrylic paint. Mom and Dad are 6" x 9" and
the baby is 2" x 3". The sea people are very folky and primitive
in construction, they are heavily antiqued and rough in
appearance.

Uncle Lock & Auntie Birdie Pattern
These birds are made using woven cotton fabric, primed with gesso
and then painted with acrylic paint. The rooster is 8" x 9" and
the chicken is 7" x 9". They are attached to wood bases. They also
have rusted wire necklaces with rusted stars and bells attached.
The wings are quilted as is the rooster's tail.

Little Kitty Pattern The kitty is made of cotton fabric. She was painted
with gesso, and then painted with acrylic paint. Her eyes and
mouth are painted. The nose and forehead are quilted. She wears a
pink pinafore dress with a white blouse. Her pants are white. The
shoes are painted and she has lace edged painted socks. Her
whiskers are made from silver thread.

Autumn Dew The bottom of this doll is weighted so it will sit
nicely where ever you put her. She is 15" seated. The leaf part of
her head is stiffened and is made from a fabric that resembles
leaves. Her face is painted with acrylic paint. The nose is needle
sculpted, and the features are painted on. Her twig arms are
raised up in greeting to all who come her way. She wears bloomers
and a top of rust colored fabric with net trim. Her boots are
green with bead trim.

Cat & Mouse Pattern Magnetic cat and mouse.
Cat is 12 x 6 mouse is 4 x 4
Cat is cloth no painting. Mouse is plush felt no painting, both
have magnets on them. Both are angels with beaded halos.

Primitive Valentine Pattern The Valentine is made of
cotton fabric. It has been primed with gesso and then after
sanding, painted with acrylic paint. It is 16" long and 8" high.
There is a loop on the back to hang it up. The eyes are made from
card stock and crochet thread. The centers of the eyes are wood,
heart shaped buttons. The nose is needle sculpted. The eyebrows
and mouth are crochet thread. There is a real key hanging from the
bottom. A heart shaped wood button is on the right wing. The
Valentine is heavily antiqued. The halo is paper covered wire.

The Owl With A Key The Owl With A Key has a
wing span of approx. 20". From the top of the head to the bottom
of the tail is 11". He is made from cotton, coated with gesso and
painted with acrylic paint. The wings and tail are machine
quilted. The surface of the body has been texturized with modeling
paste. The owl is white with yellow eyes. There is a key around
his neck, to symbolize the wisdom of nature.

from black cotton- 15" tall. Eyes are buttons and burlap. Mouth
and nose are stuffed and sewn to the face. The nose is a dark
print.The hair is felt cut in wavy strips. Loop on back to hang

This angel, made from my
original design, is about 5 1/2 inches tall and 7" long. It is
made from cotton fabric, coated with gesso and painted. The nose
is added on separately. The eyes are looking up, the head
rests on the arms. The hair is yarn that has been needle felted to
the head. The halo is dark wire. It sits on a shelf or table.
