Little
Prim Gals
Aren't these little prim gals just the cutest! They are
made to go on old thread spools just like they had in the old
days. I recently found one that was my grandmother's and have
fallen in love with them. These little dolls are made to go on
both large and small thread spools and they measure 4 1/2 inches
tall and 5 3/4 inches tall. They stitch up very quickly and best
of all they love to be made from scraps! I grabbed from my scrap
pile to make these little dolls and used everything from quilt
shop fabrics to an old bed sheet. You may choose to make them with
or without faces and their little bonnets are just like the ones
they used to wear long ago--only simplified just a tad and one of
them even wears a very simple little prairie pocket. They make
absolutely darling little gifts for all your prim friends, neat
little tuck ins for swaps or a thank you to a special customer and
they are also a quick something to make up for shows and since
they are quick and can use up scraps--more profit margin and
they're just primitively cute!

dolls hair onto her head, how to do a simple pinch stitched nose,
how to do a featherstitch, different methods for tea staining plus
lots of general hints & tips and my favorite doll making tools.
Of course she's also a great primitive doll that can be enjoyed by
the experienced primitive dollmaker as well.

Antique Baby Shoes Pattern

These are much simpler to make than what you might
think, using muslin and a painted and aging technique. Complete
instructions are given in the pattern for the painted and aging
technique. They will turn out actually looking like a little
leather shoe.
Make them as decorative shoes to fill a space on a shelf or hang
from a peg hook ( add a tag that says "pitter patter"). Wouldn't
they be wonderful in a shadow box with other vintage treasures or
as a make-do pincushion for your sewing room. Why not make them up
to fit a favorite doll. Whichever way you choose they are simple
and fun to make. Shoes make up to be 3 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/4
inches long.
